A recent publication by researchers from The Pirbright Institute and the University of Southampton demonstrate the expression of cattle DL-Lineage KIR on various immune cell types, including B cells and monocytes, in addition to the conventionally observed expression limited to T cells and NK cells in primates. This discovery, made possible through the use of the Anti-Bovine KIR2DL1 Antibody (AA7; The Immunological Toolbox clone ID: ITB02145), suggests diverse functions and ligands for bovine KIR2DL1 compared to its primate counterparts, expanding our knowledge of this receptor's role in cattle immunity.
“This study highlights the importance of immune reagents available for veterinary species that can enable research of functional species-specific differences”
